Loving what I've done with Savory(?) so far

For so long, my mind has been blank on what I wanted to do with Savory. Recently however, I've been on a roll with the development and I'm just really proud of myself. First of all, holy shit it's been so long since my last post lmao. But yeah, I know I've said that to so many people but that'll be the last time(maybe). Shows such as Pepper Ann, Mission Hill, Clerks have heavily help me get through the development. Alice, Samantha, Dennis, and Mitch all got redesigns and they look great! To make the audience understand the type of character they are, I drew multiple illustrations putting them in different situations. Example Below!!
This is an old illustration, see the old designs? :)
This is an old illustration, Dennis looks different ;)

Something else I want to do with my creations is begin selling prints and stickers of my characters. Sure they aren't as popular or noticeable as many others but marketing my work is what I repeatedly tell myself to do.... So I will!... Eventually. Also! I plan on buying a shirt with these characters printed on to advertise my project publicly. Just for myself though so sorry if you want one for yourself but maybe someday in the future? Still working on the design of it but I'll share it on my social media profiles when it's all done!

One thing I really want to change about Savory is that title. It really doesn't fit what the show is about nor is it eye catching. That is all. Have a great day. Now go buy yourself a donut.

My Positives of 2019 + Special Thanks

Well! It's nearly the end of the decade. Crazy to think about for me. It's the first decade where I vividly remember what happened throughout the ten years. Ten years ago I was creating Super Mario levels on the now defunct website, pouetpu-games. Here I am in the present now still creating art, having part time job, and finally with my own personal website and blog. Made a ton of friends throughout the decade(some I still talk too) and just had a great and memorable decade. I really want to get this out before 2020 so here's a list of positive things that went on.

Positives

  • Developed my art to the quality I imagined.
  • Got hired. Am now working part time.
  • Got accepted to my dream college @ The School of Visual Arts.
  • Made several comic series' such as Savory.
  • Gained a small following on social media.
  • Taught myself website design and created my own personal website.
  • Traveled to several states in the US.
  • Made an Animation!
  • Solved a Rubiks Cube
  • Submitted my speedruns and made some WR runs.
  • some more i don't know about rn lol :P

And now to end this off, a thanks to those who help make my 2010 a great one:

Halloween 👏 Candy 👏 Review 👏

Hello everyone! Quick blog post related to candy. Not just any blog post though. We're doing a review. Halloween 👏 Candy 👏 Review 👏. I bought two bags of candy both including eight different candy brands. They will be rated out of five stars by taste. I only have an hour to be able to upload this on halloween so lets get right to it!

Gluten-Free Halloween Candy for 2015

Candy #1 - Snickers
Introduced in the 1930s by Mars, Incorporated. Snickers consisting of nougat, topped in peanuts, caramel and covered in chocolate. One of the most popular candies out there. Very common in trick-or-treat bags. Taking the first bite into the chocolate bar felt nice. However as I chewed into the piece I bit, the caramel started getting stuck all over my teeth.. Not the biggest fan of caramel so a point will be deducted. Really that's the only major problem with the chocolate. The nougat and peanuts were good. Fuck the caramel. I hate you, caramel. Oh and also I don't like how it feels when you chew so uhhh.... minus half a point. 3.5/5

Candy #2 - Twix
Left Twix or Right Twix? Well I got a left twix right here so if you've chosen right. I'm taking one point away from you. First produced in the United Kingdom in 1967 and introduced to the States in 1979. A biscuit topped with caramel(gross) and like snickers, covered entirely in milk chocolate. Alright, lemme eat this thing now. brb opening the wrapper. Okay it's open now lemme eat it. Okay now this is much better than snickers. The caramel is still a problem as it is gets stuck in my teeth but because Twix is so much better... minus half a point. The biscuit is much better then the nougat. 4.5/5

Candy #3 - 3 Musketeers
I'm getting lazy to look up the history of candy so lemme guess what exactly the 3 Musketeers is... 3 Musketeers. Lemme just bite into it and think what's in it and give me thoughts on it. *chews* oooooooo it feels soft. I like it. It still has caramel(gross) but it's not as bad as the previous two. The center feels very nice and soft like you're eating a marshmallow. Maybe that's one of the ingredients? idk? It tastes good but because it's not my favorite i'm taking half a point off. 4/5

Candy #4 - Nerds
Okay enough chocolate talk, let's eat something else. I remember this candy being common and popular back in the mid to late 2000s but I rarely see it nowadays. Nerds freaking suck, I want to squish those cartoon-y things on the box. Not eat it, squish it. I hate the aftertaste and I hate chewing on candy rocks.  Get these away from me please. Also why doesn't my box of nerds have the wonka logo on it? 1.5/5

Time to go to the dentist!

Now lets ruin those teeth by eating more candy!

Candy #5 - Everlasting Gobstopper
Hard candy sucks. These gobstoppers taste like nothing. Well.. they do once you break your teeth to open it but it tastes terrible. Fuck hard candy and Nerds. I'd rather eat caramel then those two. 0/5

Candy #6 - Crunch
Crunch is the greatest chocolate candy of all time. Not hard as a gobstopper and not filled with caramel like snickers. It's the best. The crisp rice is what creates the crunch and with the addition of chocolate just makes me as hard as a gobstopper. I would deduct points for crunch making me a gobstopper but since it's the greatest chocolate candy of all time. I won't. In all seriousness, it's really a great candy bar and those Buncha Crunch candies you see at movie theaters are just.... WOW. 6/5

Candy #7 - Starbursts
My father loves starbursts so I like it too. It's apparently unexplainably juicy but my theory is that it's the candy soaking in my saliva. Which is both gross and interesting. The candy feels hard to chew and you know how I feel about hard candy. Okay it's not as hard as those stupid Gobstoppers but points will be removed for that. The juicy parts of the starbursts taste great but what the hell? After chewing on it for a bit, my breath just tastes weird and I don't like it. 3.5/5

Candy #8 - Butterfingers
Don't you dare lay a finger on Bart's Butterfinger. As a kid, I really admired this chocolate candy but recently I've grown to dislike it more. Well tbh I'm just mixed on it. I like it but I also really dislike it. As a kid I always liked scraping the chocolate layer off the crunchy peanut butter core of the bar. The chocolate tastes great but I can't say the same for the peanut butter. Biting into it, I can just feel the corn syrup, sugar, and caramel just filling my tooth. Ugh! Plus it makes a huge mess which really blows. Go ahead Bart. Take my butterfinger. I don't want it. 2.5/5

Well. I hope you enjoyed this review. I hate caramel and I love crunch. Bye

I Did A Good Deed Last Week

I'm sure everyone has lost something precious or important in there life before. It has happened to me several times. One instance includes my old phone being stolen by what I thought were students from my high school. That phone had tons of important information such as photos, notes, progress, and even money that were inside the case. Sadly, they were never caught or identified. On that day, I  understood how it felt to loose something important and vital. It's heartbreaking. Last week was my chance to either be a good citizen and bring back the phone, do nothing and continue with my day, or be like those criminals that stole my possession. So here's what happened:

It was a long day at work, a day that had mainly good and gentle customers(and one that complained over an item being a couple cents higher. Sheesh). After my shift was over, I bought some Granny Smith apples and left to catch my bus to go home. Leaving the supermarket where I work, I noticed a ringing phone just sitting there on the road with a cracked screen. Possibly from the car that just ran over it. A part of me wanted to get to my bus early so I don't miss it and have to wait an hour for the next one. However, I'm also thinking that whoever is calling is panicking and looking for there phone. The right thing to do was to help and find the owner or it could get onto the wrong hands. I picked up the phone and answered the call. A lady was on the other end and was full of joy when she noticed that someone picked up. After discussing about the whereabouts and all, I sat down at the nearby bench and waited. During that ten minutes of waiting I  realized that what I was doing was for good and made my heart warm up inside. Felt great. She eventually came back and thanked me greatly.

The second I handed back her phone, my bus passed. Asking for a ride home wasn't the next thing on my list so instead I went with having to walk 4 miles back(it's good exercise anyways right?). She thanked me immensely and went drove back to her destination. It was such a good feeling. Loosing a belonging such as a phone hurts and i'm glad I was able to help her out. The story isn't over though! Out of nowhere while walking back home, the same lady parked near me and thanked me again for what I did. She willingly gave me some money and wished me a great day. Again. I'm glad I was able to help out. There are good people in this world :-)

Yesterday Was One of The Greatest Days of My Life!

Been a while since I've posted anything in my own blog huh?
Whatever. So much has happened yesterday and I just really want to share my experience. As most of you already know, I will be studying Cartooning at The School of Visual Arts in NYC. I've been wanting to attend there for years now and it has became a reality! Holy crap! During that day, Orientation week was going on. It's a week long event full of fun stuff to do around Manhattan and the school.

Not only did I go to New York to attend those fun-filled events. I also had the opportunity to meet up with one of the best artist and friend, Tyler(@TylerSap2001 on Twitter & Instagram). We hung out around Madison Square Garden talking about how surreal it is meeting up with each other. As well as the fact that we're both going to the same college. He's such an inspirational and motivating guy. You can tell he's passionate about what he wants to do and really cares about pursuing that goal of making his own cartoons for the world to see. It just makes me really happy knowing that someone i've looked up to multiple times is attending the same school as I am. He's just a really cool, chill, and caring guy. I wish the best for him. Of course, we drew and shared each others sketchbooks. I drew a couple of his characters for him to bring home and he drew an Alice for me. I really do want to get it framed if possible.

Okay! Enough of the Tyler-ing!  What other exciting things did I do while @ orientation? I'm sure most of you wouldn't expect me to go here, but one of the highlights of that day was the "Who's Who in Your Crew?" panel. It was basically a gathering for students part of the LGBTQ+ community. Though I am still questioning my sexuality everyone was fine with with me hanging out and relaxing. It was such a fun event full of kind, caring, and honest people. Some of the most generous folks I've ever met. I was really nervous at first due of my dumb shyness. Though after some talking with some of the attendees, I got over it. A majority of them shared so many interests with me and they all had astonishing art and things to say and talk about. This is what it feels like to make friends in person huh? It really gives me such a warm and happy feeling. Something I haven't felt in years. Not gonna lie, almost teared up when talking to them. I was so happy. If there are any spaces open for any LGBTQ+ clubs at my school,  I'm up for becoming a member(Also there was a big bowl full of condoms there lol wtf).

Overall, it was a day I cannot forget. Coming back home, just had to type this all down. The greatest day I ever had SVA so far. Giving up especially in education is something I need to stop doing. I want to see myself grow as an artist and to make my family proud of me. I want to make friends, connect, and well... just see myself be a better person. Things I didn't do throughout middle school and high school. To all of you I met at the orientation on Wednesday, August 28th, 2019. Wish the best for you and good luck. I believe in you!

Also it's my birthday today! YAAYOOOOOOOOWWW!!

First Week Of My New Job - How Is It?

About a month ago, I sent an application to a grocery store applying as a cashier. My previous job at a factory did pay well and had it's perks, though I wasn't needed most of the time whenever I called in. In order to help my family and pay for college, I need to keep myself working. My sister told me about a supermarket that was hiring cashiers and I was up for it. The hiring process made me really nervous as it was my first time doing it. Was really happy to find out about being hired. But yeah, what are my personal thoughts on my first week of my new job? It's not that bad as I was expecting. It's probably because it's my first few days on the job but everyone's been treating me nice and were very helpful. It'll probably become worse as the weeks go by but for how it is going right now, not expecting it anytime soon. What are my responsibilities? I applied to be a cashier so there is that, but applying to one position doesn't mean you're solely working as that. Other tasks I have to do include stocking the shelves... and well... that's all the responsibilities that I can think of. As a cashier you're responsible for ringing up customers items and to make sure you give the correct amount of change. It was difficult at first but you soon get the hang of it as you go on. On thing I want to learn in it's entirety about the register are the PL codes for the fruits and vegetables. Now what the hell are PL codes you may ask? You see those stickers on your bananas and apples? There are four numbers(sometimes 5 but it depends) on it. The price of most fruits and vegetables are are determined by weight and since produce don't have bar codes on them and need to be weighed, we have to type it onto the register. I don't have to remember them all as the codes are on a sheet besides me but it would be quicker and easier if I did. So yeah. Final answer. Am I happy with the job? For what it is now. Totally! :-)

Creating Art Can Be Really Frustrating...

I really need to vent about this somewhere besides my socials or discord since I complain about it all the time. Creating art is frustrating. After a nice snack or walk through the park, you’re in the mood to create something in your sketchbook. You sharpen all your pencils, grab all your supplies, and turn to the next page of your book. A clean blank white page ready to be drawn on... Then you just sit there. Everyone goes through this, even you, the reader. Art block has affected so many artists. It’s like a virus that just won’t go away and only does every week or so(and occasionally late at night). Just yesterday I was trying to make a new drawing. All that happened was just me sitting there thinking about it and there are two reasons why I acted like that. One is because I'm nervous of how it'll turn out. I want it to look the best it can be to me, my friends and my family. Two is because I really don't want to waste more pages and space in my sketchbook whenever I mess up. Saving money is something I really need to learn and adapt to. College is coming up and tuition ain't cheap these days along with supplies and transportation.

So how can I help get rid of art block? Honestly, I don't know... Many people out there say to stop drawing for today and do something else you like or to look at work of people you look up to. Personally, they don't work that much for me nowadays but by chance they work for you, GREAT! I'm glad it does. What sometimes helps for me is when I'm chatting with my friends on discord, watching TV or going out for a walk. But that's to get my mind off of drawing. I can already see myself struggling to make my own ideas and drawings in college. Yikes...
